Scholarships open to disadvantaged students

HA NOI (Biz Hub)– Deloitte Viet Nam and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) on Thursday announced the second intake of students for their Lighting Up Your Future scholarships.

Open to students of business, economics, finance, banking and accounting in Ha Noi and HCM City, the scholarships aim to help develop careers in the auditing and advisory sectors. The scholarships have a focus on motivating outstanding students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The programme plans to provide 60 scholarships this year worth a total of VND1.2 billion (US$57,000). Each scholarship is worth VND10 million ($476), and organisers will also offer Deloitte's special summer internship program for second, third and fourth year students.

All 60 recipients of the scholarships will have the chance to join 'soft skills' training courses run by the ACCA. The training programme also aims to foster leadership and teamwork skills.

"Contributing to the sustainable development of human resources in the finance industry and the economy is always the top priority of Deloitte," said said Ha Thu Thanh, Deloitte Viet Nam's CEO.. "The Lighting Up Your Future scholarships were set up with the very clear goal of laying a better foundation for Vietnamese youth."

Le Thi Hong Len, head of ACCA Viet Nam, said the scholarships aim to enable young people of ability to become the finance leaders of the future and help the Vietnamese business community as a whole.

Eligible students can apply for the scholarship online at www.thapsangtuonglai.com. The deadline for applications is 30 September, and the awards ceremony will be held in December. – VNS
