SCG to grant scholarships to 200 university students and pupils

The Central Youth Union and the Central Association Council, in collaboration with SCG and HCMC Student Assistant Centre have launched a scholarship programme for students and pupils nationwide.

With a total fund of VNĐ2.7 billion (over US$110,000), the SCG Sharing The Dream 2023 programme aims to provide support and empowerment to 100 university students and 100 pupils across Việt Nam who demonstrate a strong determination to overcome life challenges and contribute to their communities through environmental and social projects, SCG said in a statement.

To provide scholars with a practical perspective, the programme includes immersive factory and office workplace tours of SCG's facilities. These visits offer scholars a firsthand look at industry operations, connecting their academic knowledge with real-world applications, the company said.

It added that scholars will embark on a journey to build knowledge and understanding of how the ESG mindset operates within a corporation. They will also be given chances to collaborate on idea generation and community projects, guided by mentors, and receive assistance in translating these initiatives into tangible community benefits.

Nguyễn Phạm Duy Trang, Secretary of the Party Committee of The Central Youth Union cum President of the Central Association Council said: “Every year, the Central Youth Union and the Central Association Council undertake numerous activities to support students and young people facing difficult circumstances, helping them overcome in their studies and lives."

"At the same time, we represent, care for, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of younger people," she said.

Trang added that this collaboration in human development with SCG will gain many positive results and have a significant impact on society as a whole.

Praween Wirotpan - General Director of SCG Vietnam said through the scholarship programme, his firm's goal is to empower this generation with equal educational opportunities and instil in them an ESG mindset, fostering their development as responsible global citizens. — VNS
