Sacombank has granted scholarships worth over VND 3.8 billion (US$163,700) to 3,559 disadvantaged university and secondary and high school students around the country for the 2019-20 school year.

University students received VND10-15 million and a backpack while secondary and high school students got VND1 million.

The beneficiaries are secondary and high school students except in Ha Noi and some central districts of HCM City with an average score of seven and above last year and second-year students in Ha Noi, HCM City and the south-western region majoring in economics, business management, finance, accounting and auditing, with an average score of 7.0/10 or 2.5/4 and actively participating in extra-curricular activities.

This year Sacombank adopted a new scholarship policy under which the second year students will continue to receive a scholarship for the next two years if they maintain good scores.

The annual “Sacombank – nurturing dreams” scholarship programme has given more than VND44 billion to 34,550 students since 2004.

Sacombank plans to begin a programme called Potential Intern from 2020 to create opportunities for economics students to experience the working environment in a bank.

They will get a stipend during the internship, and stand the chance of being recruited directly by Sacombank after graduation instead of going through tests and interviews. — VNS
