Sacombank has launched a promotion called “Smart payment – Receive valuable gifts” for domestic debit card holders.

To run until November 30, the programme will offer customers incentives like cashback of VND100,000 (US$4.3) for transactions worth at least VND500,000 ($21.5) through POS machines and a gift of a 322 litre Panasonic inverter refrigerator every week to the customers with the highest payment through POS machines (at least VND15 million ($645.8) and each transaction should be worth at least VND200,000).

Sacombank is one of the few banks in Viet Nam to be eligible to issue domestic cards equipped with EMV chips, which optimise security of card information and allow contactless payment transactions.

It has EMV chips on Plus payment cards and will soon have them on Family credit cards in accordance with a roadmap to convert 30 per cent of magnetic cards into chip cards this year.

Plus is an electronic chip card meeting international standards and with the ability to store and encrypt information with high security to minimise fraud and fake transactions.

Customers just need to touch or wave the card near the POS NFC machine for a few seconds to complete their payment, and do not need to sign bills of up to VND1 million ($43).

Plus debit card is connected to customers’ current accounts at Sacombank, and allows them to use money in the account to make payments and withdrawals anywhere in the country and interbank money transfers and shop online.

To get the card, the customer needs an identity card, or passport.
