The construction of the TH Group’s hi-tech milch cow farming in the central coastal province of Phu Yen’s Son Hoa District kicked off on Thursday.
This is part of the first hi-tech milch cow breeding and milk processing project invested in by the group in the province.
The project is divided into two phases. In the first phase, the group will invest VND1.15 trillion (US$51 million) to develop a herd of 5,000 cows which is expected to yield 72 tonnes of fresh milk per day.
The second phase of the project will see investment worth VND4.57 trillion to raise the number of cows to 20,000 heads.
At present, the TH Group, famous for its TH True Milk brand, has been allocated an area of 78 hectares (ha) to build the farm. The group will also join hands with local farmers to develop a 377ha materials zone (mainly corn and grass) to feed the cows.
The milk processing factory is planned to be built in Tuy An District’s An My Commune.
TH Group CEO Thai Huong said that the project will use milch cow management technology of Israel, epidemics control system of New Zealand and water and waste treatment technology of Japan and the Netherlands.
The farm is scheduled to come into operation by the beginning of 2019 and expected to raise income for thousands of workers in the locality. — VNS
