P&G Vietnam and Central Retail Vietnam have organised a volunteer tree-planting event at the Tà Kóu Nature Reserve in Bình Thuận Province, as part of the 'Forests For Good – Vì Bạn Ươm Mầm Một Việt Nam Xanh' initiative.
Launched in 2023, the initiative aims to restore forest ecosystems, combat desertification and raise awareness about environmental conservation.
The event attracted around 150 volunteers, including senior executives and employees from both companies, alongside notable public figures such as Miss Universe Việt Nam H’Hen Niê and actress Ninh Dương Lan Ngọc. Together, the volunteers planted over 1,000 drought-resistant native trees to aid the reforestation of Tà Kóu Nature Reserve, one of 221 globally critical ecological zones. The reserve, home to 751 plant species and 178 rare animals, still requires the restoration of over 100 hectares of degraded coastal forest and sand dunes.
This tree-planting initiative is an important part of efforts to green barren land, improve forest ecosystems and mitigate the impacts of climate change. By expanding forest coverage, the event also aims to secure vital water resources for the local community and wildlife.
Since its launch, the 'Forests For Good' programme has planted more than 14,000 trees across Việt Nam, including in areas such as the Xuân Liên Nature Reserve, Cà Mau National Park and Đồng Nai Culture and Nature Reserve. Both P&G Vietnam and Central Retail Vietnam are committed to continuing these efforts, contributing to Việt Nam's environmental sustainability and aligning with the country's goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. — VNS
