Samsung Vietnam, in collaboration with the Successful Youth Organisation on Thursday held a closing ceremony for the Technology Talent Development Project - Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) for the 2023-24 academic year (SIC 2023-24) to review and assess the project's effectiveness.
After nearly a year of implementation, the SIC 2023-24 project has been rolled out across 67 schools, including secondary schools, and universities in 13 provinces nationwide, achieving impressive results with nearly 6,400 participants - almost double the number from the SIC 2022-23 project.
The programme has delivered nearly 21,000 hours of instruction across 227 classes and completed 16,320 hours of e-learning.
The project for the 2023-24 academic year officially started in October 2023 with the aim of enhancing advanced technological skills among Vietnamese youth.
The project offered three advanced technology courses for youngsters aged 13-22: Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Big Data, as well as a basic Coding and Programming course (C&P).
These courses combined online (e-learning) and in-person training methods to reach students in various provinces and regions across the country.
To provide modern training environments with high-quality equipment, the SIC 2023-24 project established two SIC labs at Duy Tân University and the National Innovation Centre (NIC). SIC participants have the opportunity to study and practice under optimal conditions.
Among them, Samsung Vietnam, in collaboration with the NIC, conducted six high-tech training classes for approximately 200 students at NIC's Hòa Lạc Campus. This is the first cooperative effort between Samsung Vietnam and the NIC, aimed at achieving Việt Nam's goal of training 50,000 semiconductor engineers by 2030.
Nguyễn Thị Bích Ngọc, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, said: “The Technology Talent Development Programme (SIC), in collaboration with Samsung, is a top priority for the NIC, aimed at nurturing technology talent. I commend Samsung's commitment and efforts to work with the NIC and other stakeholders to develop innovative and high-tech skills for Việt Nam's youth, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision that NIC should be a hub of intellect and a driver of Việt Nam’s innovative benefits.”

President of Samsung Vietnam, Choi Joo Ho, said: “Samsung and IT companies globally are seeking opportunities to collaborate and expand investments in Việt Nam. In the near future, Việt Nam will play a crucial role in the global high-tech industry, not just in mobile phones but across the entire sector.
"Students need to seize these changes in Việt Nam to create their own opportunities. Along with the great policies of the Vietnamese Government, schools and global enterprises such as Samsung are making efforts to train human resources in the IT and semiconductor fields, which shows that all are building an extremely favorable environment for students."
Additionally, training sessions for teachers, designed by leading experts from Samsung and major research institutions and universities nationwide, have been conducted for nearly 200 teachers across various provinces.
As part of the project, the 'Innovation Tech Challenge – 2024' competition was organised to provide students with a platform to showcase their knowledge and skills from the program and to interact with peers nationwide. The competition, featuring the Micromouse maze-solving robot challenge, saw participation from nine university teams and eleven secondary school teams from eight provinces.
In the final results, after intense rounds of competition, with skillful techniques and accurate performance, the two winning teams of the competition were 'Jerry' from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Hà Nội and 'DTU30' from Duy Tân University, Đà Nẵng.
At the event, Samsung also awarded 60 scholarships to the top 60 students of the SIC 2023-24 programme.
The SIC was officially launched globally in 2019. It is one of Samsung's prominent corporate social responsibility programs and has expanded to 36 countries worldwide, including the US, Germany, Spain, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand.
In Việt Nam, the programme has been implemented since 2019, and now extends to approximately 90 schools and 30 provinces across the country, providing over 12,000 Vietnamese youth with courses such as C&P, AI, Big Data, and IoT. — VNS
