NS BlueScope Vietnam launched Activate - a breakthrough technology for withstanding severe environments, setting a new benchmark for Viet Nam’s alloy coated steel industry.

The new Activate technology is integrated into the new generation COLORBOND® and ZINCALUME® steels, offering the steel an unprecedented corrosion resistance and withstanding the test of time, even in severe environments.

“We have conducted a comprehensive testing programme for over 22 years. More than 8,000 profile panels have undergone Q-Fog cycling testing and salt spray testing in laboratories," said Vo Minh Nhut, President of NS BlueScope Vietnam.

"Testing results show that the new generation COLORBOND® and ZINCALUME® steels have strong durability, especially its superior corrosion resistance at cut edges, screw holes and scratches,” Nhut said.

Nhut said that Activate technology withstands severe environments and sets a new industry benchmark as the first-ever and unique Activate alloy-coated steel technology capable of protecting projects against severe environments.

The company also extends warranty period up to 36 years for the new generation of COLORBOND® and ZINCALUME® steels, including projects in marine environments.

“With this breakthrough innovation, we expect to contribute to the sustainability of the construction industry in Viet Nam,” added Nhut.

As a member of the joint venture between Australian BlueScope Steel Limited and Japanese Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation, NS BlueScope Vietnam is now operating three factories in Phu My, Bien Hoa and Ha Noi, providing the market with 156,000 tonnes of high-quality coated steel yearly for big construction projects, hi-tech agricultural solutions, small and medium factories and civil buildings. — VNS
