MNG Emperor Bank begins operations in Cambodia

MNG Emperor Bank, invested by a Vietnamese businesswoman, was opened in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Sunday.

The bank is founded, invested and chaired by Vietnamese Cambodian Huynh Kim Hao.

Attending the opening ceremony were Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Vu Quang Minh, Governor of Cambodian National Bank Chea Chanto and many leaders of agencies and businesses operating in the banking and finance sector in Cambodia and abroad.

Speaking at the ceremony, CEO of Emperor Bank Om Visal said that working in a market with good growth prospects and high competitiveness like Cambodia, the Emperor Bank will focus on investing in and applying modern financial technology with the motto of innovation, creativity and safety to enhance operational efficiency and create trust for all customers.

He said the bank aimed to become the leading digital bank in Cambodia and the region.

Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia Chea Chanto also appreciated and expressed his belief in the success of Emperor Bank. He said that the bank would contribute to meeting the increasing needs of customers for financial and banking products and services, helping boost the banking industry in Cambodia in particular and the Cambodian economy in general.

In recent years, investment capital and two-way trade turnover between Viet Nam and Cambodia have continuously increased. In 2018, bilateral trade reached US$4.7 billion, an increase of 23.5 per cent compared to 2017.

Emperor Bank is expected to create favourable conditions for investors and businesses from both countries to promote co-operation. — VNS
