Local pharmaceutical producer Merap Group Corporate and Japan's Lion Corporation on Monday signed a master investment agreement.
Merap Group specialises in manufacturing innovative products that are technologically advanced with good quality to meet customer needs in Viet Nam.
Meanwhile, Lion Corporation possesses significant strengths in R&D, global/Japanese standard technologies, a high-quality product portfolio with various international brands, a global corporate network and a worldwide distribution platform.
Under the strategic partnership, Merap Group and Lion Corporation will exchange expertise while harmonising the cultures and values of each other.
The strategic partnership is expected to help Merap enhance its quality to the standard of J-GMP (equivalent to EU-GMP quality standard), and maximise the efficiency and competitiveness of its healthcare products.
The Japanese-quality products of Lion will gradually reach Vietnamese consumers by leveraging the extensive coverage of Merap's distribution channel.
Dinh Xuan Dao, chairman of the Board of Merap Group Corporation, said the strategic partnership with Lion Corporation via M&A is a demonstration of Merap's relentless efforts to become a leader in Viet Nam’s healthcare sector.
“This marks the transformation of our business model from a traditional pharmaceutical company into a healthcare company. Lion Corporation will elevate Merap's brand position in domestic and international markets," he said.
Founded in 1999, Merap Group possesses a comprehensive control strategy with German standards, and is a pioneer in investing in advanced technologies, R&D, and multi-channel omnichannel retail systems.
Established in 1891 in Tokyo, Japan, Lion is a corporation specialising in manufacturing and trading in pharmaceuticals, oral care, beauty care, fabric care, and living care with global brands distributed worldwide. — VNS
