“Google for Education project” was piloted recently at FPT School Cau Giay, helping its teachers and students improve learning outcomes and digital skills.

It was the fourth trial in Viet Nam, and was done between March 7 and June 9.

Since 2020, education and training has been identified as one of the eight top priority areas in the National Digital Transformation Program (CLT) to run from 2025 to 2030.

In line with the Government’s vision, the pilot aims to help teachers employ a more student-centred approach, thus raising the interest and engagement of students in class activities and further supporting teachers in creating interactive and tailored lesson planning with the introduction of AI tools.

As a partner in the pilot, Lenovo provided a Chromebook 300e to each participating student and teacher while AI Education (AIE) provided training for teachers at FPT School Cau Giay in the utilisation of Google’s suite of tools.

Participants included one grade five class of 32 students and nine teachers.

The teaching and learning activities on Lenovo’s Chromebooks are run on Google Workspace for Education tools such as Google Classroom and Google Meet, and enhanced with the Chrome Education Upgrade.

As a result, students showed a higher level of interest in learning activities. Some 90 per cent of students found the class to be more enjoyable while 89 per cent of teachers agreed they were able to deploy a student-centred methodology.

Besides, 94 per cent of students agreed they had improved their ability to use digital tools in their studies while a remarkable 100 per cent of teachers said Google Workspace for Education and Chromebook helped them save 1-5+ hours a week, especially on administrative work.

Following the successful Google for Education pilot at Doan Thi Diem secondary school in Can Tho earlier this year, the pilot marked a new milestone in the collaboration between Lenovo and Google in helping digitise Viet Nam’s education system. — VNS
