KBTG - an arm of KBTG Thailand’s leading fintech organisation under KASIKORNBANK (KBank) plans to expand its Vietnamese team to bolster its role as KBank's regional technology hub.

The company said it will continue to launch innovative products in the local markets across Việt Nam, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia, servicing areas beyond banking for local customers.

In late 2022, KBTG introduced itself to the Vietnamese market to capitalise on opportunities in the fintech sector. The move was followed by the establishment of KBTG Vietnam in June 2023, marking its official entry into the country's rapidly growing fintech market. The company has opened offices in HCM City and Hà Nội.

To date, over 120 tech talents with diverse technical backgrounds have joined KBTG Vietnam. As many companies are vying for talent in Việt Nam’s fintech sector, this is an outstanding achievement for KBTG within one year of operation, the company said in a statement.

The company said it aims to increase its pipeline of tech talents to over 500 within the next three years to support KBank's goal of becoming one of the top 20 banks in Việt Nam by 2027.

Thanussak Thanyasiri, Managing Director of KBTG Vietnam, said: "2023 has been a remarkable year for KBTG Vietnam with significant achievements. Our staff has grown by 300 per cent, from 30 people in 2022 to more than 120 this year. We have delivered over 30 projects with K PLUS Vietnam, reaching over one million customers."

KBTG Vietnam is supporting more than 30 projects in Việt Nam, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos, covering various areas such as mobile banking, internet banking, core banking, and financial innovations.

"Việt Nam remains largely an untapped market and a promised land for fintech investors. Despite being a new player, KBTG aims to reimagine the country's fintech landscape with its product innovations and workforce development strategy," the company said. — VNS
