Hoan My Sai Gon Hospital signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday (April 19) to start a collaboration on "The Research and Commercial Applications of AI in Radiology" with Australia-based Annalise.ai, one of the world’s largest AI radiology companies.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Nguyen Huu Tram Em, CEO of Hoan My Sai Gon Hospital, said that for many years, the hospital has been investing in modern equipment and machinery capable of providing high-quality images and integrating utility software to aid doctors in making quick and accurate diagnoses in all clinical situations.

“One of the hospital's strategies to enhance diagnostic efficiency and optimise the utilisation of medical staff resources is through the research and application of AI in Radiology,” he said.

AI also standardises and improves the professional knowledge of doctors, radiology technicians, and radiologists by enabling them to reference AI before making decisions.

“This will form the foundation for expanding diagnostic techniques and, ultimately, building an excellent radiology centre,” he said.

Under the agreement, the two parties will collaborate on research, validation, and verification of clinical values at Hoan My Sai Gon Hospital and the effectiveness of Annalise.ai's tools in delivering the best benefits to patients.

The success of this partnership will lead to a breakthrough in the field of diagnostic imaging in particular, and the healthcare industry in general.

The implementation of research and applications for this project at the hospital is expected to contribute to the overall transformation in the healthcare industry, towards the goal of applying high-tech technology in screening, diagnosis, and treatment.

Dimitry Tran, Co-Founder of harrison.ai and board director of Annalise.ai, said bringing Annalise.ai’s AI-powered clinician-assisting tools to hospitals such as Hoan My Saigon Hospital helps the company’s mission - making healthcare more accessible and equitable for millions of patients.

“My hope is that our tools - that act like spell checkers for medical imaging - will support radiologists across the country and improve diagnosis and patient care for years to come,” he said.

Annalise.ai is aiming towards implementing Annalise.ai’s AI-enabled Software-as-a-medical device (SaMD) enterprise solutions at the hospital by providing two clinician-assisting AI tools for chest X-rays and CT brain scans.

The Annalise.ai solutions will provide clinicians with the improved ability to identify abnormalities that a radiologist may have missed.

This is intended to facilitate the early detection and treatment of diseases and shorten the time for clinical decisions, which helps to reduce wait time for patients and lower costs while improving patient outcomes. — VNS
