Google has announced that Google Wallet is available in Viet Nam, providing a safer, simpler and more helpful payment experience.

Starting on Tuesday, Visa credit and debit cardholders of ACB, Sacombank, Shinhan Bank, Techcombank (credit only), TP Bank, Vietcombank and VPBank will be able to add their payment cards to Google Wallet and pay with their Android phones or Wear OS devices where contactless payments are accepted.

In the coming weeks, Visa cardholders of MB Bank and Mastercard cardholders of select banks can add their payment cards to Google Wallet.

“Google Wallet is easy to use as you don't need to transfer money into the app. It acts as a digital container that holds digital versions of physical items found in an actual wallet, such as payment cards. Simply add the payment card to Google Wallet and you can tap to pay securely in stores,” said Chen Way Siew, Google Wallet Partnerships Lead, Google Asia Pacific.

“You can also easily access boarding passes when jetting off for year end holidays. Google Wallet helps keep everything protected in one place, no matter where you go.”

In addition to accessing payment cards, people can add boarding passes from AirAsia. With boarding passes in Google Wallet, they will be notified of changes to departure times and gate changes to ensure they can breeze through the boarding gates at the airport.

Furthermore, they will be able to tap and pay in a safe and secure manner using Google Wallet during their overseas travel, without the need for their physical card. — VNS
