Golden Trust Company Ltd, famous for its Gong Cha bubble tea brand, on Monday announced it will expand its food and beverage business in Viet Nam.

The company officially opened a Piko coffee shop and an Uncle Tetsu cheesecake shop on Ngo Duc Ke and Thai Van Lung streets in District 1, respectively.

Nguyen Hoai Phuong, CEO of Golden Trust, said that his company had planned to open the stores earlier but these plans were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company, Phuong said, will use its experience in the food and beverage business to develop the shops.

Phuong also revealed that the company would directly operate and develop the shops, focusing on sustainable development, customer experience and product quality.

It took Golden Trust three years of negotiation to acquire the rights to Uncle Tetsu, a cheesecake brand from Japan. After 30 years, Uncle Tetsu has become a favourite brand in many countries such as the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, China, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Cambodia.

In Viet Nam, the company has sold Uncle Tetsu cheesecake for years and a sold-out situation occurs every day.

Piko Coffee is a new brand and will be served at a price of less than VND50,000 (US$2.2) for each cup of coffee. Piko Coffee is now available in Thu Duc City of HCM City and Ngo Duc Ke Street. — VNS
