With only three days to go for Tet (the Lunar New Year), Co.opmart and Co.opXtra supermarkets around the country are increasingly offering discounts, causing them to be always crowded with shoppers.
Fresh foods are the biggest sellers.
So, from now until New Year Eve (February 11), many fresh foods and ready-to-eat dishes are being sold at discounts of 15-35 per cent at more than 100 Co.opmart and Co.opXtra supermarkets.
For instance, fruits used as offerings in five-fruit trays like buoi duong la cam (pomelo with orange leaf), dragon fruit, black raisin, yellow papaya, and red apple, are sold at a discount of 15 per cent, round seedless watermelons and red pineapples are discounted by 20 per cent and vegetables such as broccoli and cucumber, by 35 per cent.
The prices of minced pork and pork cuts are discounted by 15 per cent, and braised meat with eggs and pork-stuffed bitter melon soup are also reduced by 15 per cent. Roasted chicken costs VND99,000 per kilogramme.
