CJ Group of South Korea has launched the second phase of its project to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged ethnic minority students in Viet Nam.
Over two years, CJ Group will contribute approximately 300 million won (US$250,000) towards a national campaign targeting educational policy managers and policymakers. The campaign will promote the creation of specific action plans and encourage education at the local level.
Its objective is to enhance public awareness about the education of ethnic minority children and provide support to educators, teachers and staff in schools located in Ninh Thuan, Cao Bang, and Kon Tum provinces.
The “We are ABLE: For a Better Life and Education” initiative, launched in 2019, is a global social contribution project that seeks to expand employment opportunities for women in poor areas of Viet Nam and improve access to education for ethnic minority children.
“We will give our full support to the educational project for ethnic minority girls, based on CJ's shared philosophy, so that more children can be educated without discrimination and develop into talented people to lead the future of Viet Nam," stated Min Heekyung, Executive Vice President and head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of CJ CheilJedang-CJ Group.
CJ Group has been working with UNESCO on a strategic partnership since 2014, promoting a global girls' education campaign that seeks to improve the lives of girls worldwide, with a particular focus on developing countries. — VNS
