Archipelago Indochina explores opportunities in hotel management

Archipelago Indochina, a foreign-invested private company has announced its first contracts to enter Vietnamese market and catch up with what they termed the third wave of tourism boom in Viet Nam.

"We connect independent hotels and hotel groups to our system, automate their distribution processes and connect them to more than 3,000 partners," said Norbert Vas, Vice President of Development at Archipelago International. "We leverage longstanding relationships and arrangements with online travel agencies (OTAs), train and monitor their reservations teams," he added.

The first wave was back in 2004, when Da Nang and Hoi An had only a handful of five star resort and hotels, namely Furama Da Nang and Golden Sand in Hoi An. The second wave was the massive arrival of condotels in Viet Nam.

The third wave, which shall start now, after COVID-19 pandemic receded, is expected to provide accommodation to an increased number of international visitors tourism experts say would surpass the number before pandemic.

Archipelago International teamed up with Optimum Hospitality, a specialist in hotel and resort management company based in HCM City to find Archipelago Indochina. AI CEO is John Gardner, who has been in Viet Nam for 15 years and was General Manager and General Director of Caravelle Hotel from 2007 to 2021. AI COO is no other than Martin Koerner, who has also had a ten-year experience in Viet Nam and has marketed for the Alma and Anam resort in Cam Ranh.

The first agreements of Archipelago Indochina are expected to provide distribution and revenue management services for four hotels in HCMC and one in Phu Quoc. "Powered by Archipelago" agreements shall provide booking engines and inventory yields shall be designed and provided to increase revenue for prospective customers.

Archipelago International, a leading privately owned company based in Indonesia and has been managing hotels for the past 25 years, with hotels in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Cuba.

Its brands include Aston, Collection by Aston, Alana, Huxley, Kamuela among others. — VNS
