Low cost carrier VietJetAir has officially launched its direct flights between the central beach city and Ahmedabad, India, with two return trips per week.

The flight is scheduled to depart from Đà Nẵng on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and from India’s Ahmedabad on Thursdays and Sundays, with the route using an Airbus A320.

It’s the eighth route of VietJetAir connecting Việt Nam and India, with a total 60 flights per week from Hà Nội, HCM City and Đà Nẵng, to cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kochi, along with destinations Bodh Gaya and Varanasi.

During the launch of the new air route, Đà Nẵng City’s tourism department, in cooperation with VietJetAir, offered a vacation trip for Miss Universe India, Rhea Singha and KLO Ekta Sandhir in the beach city.

More than 20 travel agencies and media representatives were invited to the launch of the new air route as part of Đà Nẵng City’s tourism promotion programmes for the Indian market.

Vietjet already operates two direct flights from New Delhi and Mumbai to Đà Nẵng, with a total of seven return flights per week.

Deputy Chairman of the city’s People’s Committee Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi said the introduction of the new route would help further boost tourism and economic activities of the two cities.

She said over 140,000 Indian tourists visited Đà Nẵng City in the first nine months of 2024.

The beach city hosted also four big luxury wedding parties of Indian couples with the participation of more than 1,200 visitors in 2024, while 3,000 Indians arrived for meetings and exhibitions in the city this year. — VNS
