AEON, AEON TOPVALU donate $25,000 to disaster-hit central region

Japanese retailer AEON, its trade union and AEON TOPVALU have donated VND600 million (US$25,854) to the Red Cross for relief and rehabilitation work in the central region, which has been hit by a series of natural disasters.

The money will be used to repair facilities in some schools damaged by floods in Quang Nam Province and provide bicycles, study kits and schoolbags to 100 students in difficult circumstances.

Nishitohge Yasuo, general director of AEON Vietnam, said: “I hope the support from AEON staff will help people in the central region, especially Quang Nam Province, quickly recover and return to normal life.”

Nguyen Trong Nghia, deputy head of the Vietnam Red Cross Society’s southern representative agency, said: “We expect everyone to continue to join hands to help people in the central region soon stabilise their lives and teachers and students go to school.

“We will send the money to places severely affected by the recent historic flood as soon as possible.” — VNS
