HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — VietJet announced on January 29 the names of 127 lucky persons who will board a special flight on March 20 from Taipei to HCM City.

Under the "Spread the Love" campaign, among the most remarkable programmes organised by the airline to date, Vietnamese and Taiwanese people living in Taiwan as well as Taiwanese people living in Viet Nam got a chance to win a free flight from Taipei to HCM City, and 50 per cent discount on the fare for the return flight from HCM City to Taipei.

"This special complimentary flight will mean a large number of happy smiles as all the lucky winners will be reunited with their loved ones," the carrier said in its press release.

One of the winners, Xuong Hoa, a Taiwanese businesswoman, explained why she was so happy to return to Viet Nam for her second visit to the country.

"When I visited Viet Nam a few years ago, I could not communicate in Vietnamese, but I fell in love with the people and the cuisine," she said.

"I was also very impressed with the fast growing economy there. After returning to Taiwan, I started learning Vietnamese in the hope that I will one day start a new business in the country. Thanks to this special flight offered by VietJet, I have a chance to visit Viet Nam one more time so that I can explore more business opportunities."

Another passenger on this special flight will be the son of Kim Cuc, a young Vietnamese woman who married a Taiwanese businessman 10 years ago and relocated to her husband's country.

"Even though I have been in Taiwan for 10 years, I have visited Viet Nam only a few times," says Kim Cuc. "I love Taiwan, but I still want my child to learn Vietnamese and meet his relatives, so I am delighted to send him back there for a family reunion with his maternal grandparents. My son has often asked me when he can ever visit Viet Nam. I used to get upset while telling him that I cannot afford to take him there. But now, thanks to VietJet's campaign, his dream has come true."

Currently, five return flights operate per week on the HCM City -Taipei route – on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, as well as Sunday – with a flight duration of three hours and 25 minutes per leg.

On the scheduled days, the VietJet flight departs from HCM City at 2.30pm (Viet Nam time) and arrives in Taipei at 6.55pm (Taiwan time). The return flight takes off from Taipei at 8pm (Taiwan time) and arrives in HCM City at 10.25pm (Viet Nam time).

VietJet plans to continue expanding its flight network in the near future by launching flights from HCM City and Ha Noi to Kaohsiung and Taichung in Taiwan, in an attempt to offer more flying opportunities, competitive services and fares to businesspersons, tourists and expatriates returning for family reunions. — VNS
