NHA TRANG CITY (Biz Hub) — InterContinental Nha Trang has launched a campaign to protect marine species as well as the urban environment in the central beach town of Nha Trang.

The innovative Save our Marine Life corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign is among a series of environmental activities the hotel has planned this year.

Under the campaign, hotel employees volunteer to snorkel and collect trash in the sea around Hon Mun (Mun Islet), well-known as a prime diving and snorkelling site in Nha Trang Bay. Due to its proximity to warm currents, the seabed here is home to an abundant and diverse group of marine species.

"Whilst tourism plays a large role in Nha Trang's and Vietnam's economy, our industry faces increasing pressure to balance its economic performance with its social and environmental impacts," Pascal Caubo, the hotel's general manager, said.

"And we believe that we have a responsibility to respect nature and the heritage and community our hotel is in.

"We continue the CSR journey and keep developing our current programmes with an array of activities to protect the ocean, as well as leverage our communications channels."

The hotel has been implementing numerous CSR programmes, focusing on developing local talents, protecting the environment, and supporting victims of natural disaster.
