According to DHL, Berczely, who is based in HCM City, will be responsible for all aspects of the company's business operations and activities in Viet Nam, in particular, leading DHL's strategic development and ongoing investment.

"Vietnam is an exciting and dynamic market, offering significant growth opportunities for DHL Express. Reports show that foreign direct investment and consumption are expected to accelerate in Viet Nam this year, and we are confident that George's wealth of strategic, global, and regional experience will help the business tap into the resulting opportunities," said Jerry Hsu, CEO, DHL Express, Asia Pacific.

Berczely, who speaks six languages and is a British and Austrian national, joined Deutsche Post DHL in March 2004 as its director of corporate strategy and supported various mergers and acquisitions as well as strategic projects.

In 2007, he joined DHL Express Asia Pacific in Singapore as the vice president of margin improvement, rolling out productivity and efficiency programmes. Berczely's continued successes within DHL Express launched him into two more leadership positions before he came to Viet Nam.

In 2009, he was appointed the CFO of network operations and aviation for Asia Pacific and the emerging markets, and then in 2011, he was appointed vice president of business planning & performance management for Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. Additionally, Berczely chaired the Asia Pacific Investment Committee and was responsible for the activities of the Asia Pacific Management Board.—VNS
