BAC NINH (Biz Hub) — Samsung Electronics Viet Nam (SEV), in association with the Bac Ha College in the northern Bac Ninh Province, held the opening ceremony of SEV Internal College on Thursday.

This is the fourth intake since the programme was first implemented in 2013.

The joint training programme is part of Samsung's long-term development plans in Viet Nam, contributing to the country's high quality human resource development in general and extends SEV employees the opportunity to learn, improve skills and qualifications to self-develop in the future.

The SEV Internal College system is a formal training programme, exclusive for operators at the SEV plant. Through this program, Samsung wants to make the dream of employees come true because most of its operators are very young and unskilled.

The college programme will span three years, with preferential fees, which offers three majors: electronics, accounting, and South Korean language.

Since its inception in 2013, the programme has attracted a lot of attention from Vietnamese staff working at Samsung. Three years later, the programme has attracted more than 1,000 SEV employees in which two majors of electronics and the Korean language saw the highest attendance rates. On August 20, the first 176 SEV employee participants officially completed the course and received a Formal College Diploma from the Bac Ha College of Technology.

"We hope the SEV Internal College programme will increasingly grow and help more young people working at Samsung pursue their academic dreams, build themselves a sustainable future even when they are no longer working for SEV," Hyunwoo Bang, deputy general director of SEV, said.

SEV is also collaborating with the Thai Nguyen College of Economic and Technology (under Thai Nguyen University) to impart full-time certificate education training for SEVT employees. There are now nearly 500 students joining this programme and during the coming new school year, they are expected to receive around 600 students. More than 2,000 employees will study in the college education program at SEV and SEVT by the end of this year.

With Viet Nam becoming Samsung's global manufacturing headquarters, training qualified human resources to meeting growing operations scale, as well as the sustainable development plans in Viet Nam, has always been one of Samsung's top priorities. This is also one of Samsung's commitments towards investing in the market. — VNS
