Big C funds 12 community projects

Big C is providing VND500 million (US$22,421) for 12 community projects to improve the lives of disadvantaged children aged under six as part of its "Big Community 2016" contest. — VNS Photo

CITY (Biz Hub) — Big C supermarket, a member of Central Group Viet Nam, has selected 12 community projects this year as part of its "Big Community 2016" contest.

The projects include providing wells and toilets at Thuong Long 2 Kindergarten in Thua Thien-Hue Province and construction of a place for the Quang Dien Association for the Blind to display and sell their products.

Two other projects involve the provision of day-boarding facilities for a school in Bac Giang Province's Son Dong District, and construction of a kitchen for disadvantaged children at Yen Ninh Pagoda in Ninh Binh Province's Hoa Lu District are two other projects.

The supermarket will fund between VND40,000 and VND45,000 (US$1,793-2,017) for each project.

Big Community is an annual contest for Big C staff that encourages them to conceive of community projects to improve the lives of disadvantaged children under six years old.

Since the programme began in 2011, the supermarket has provided more than VND2 billion ($89,686) to more than 50 community projects. — VNS
