HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Viet Nam will prioritise investment and development of 172 advanced technology sectors, according to a recent decision by the Prime Minister.
The decision No 66/2014/QD-TTg will take effect from January 15, 2015.
Of the 172 sectors, the 58 sectors prioritised for investment include integrated circuit design and manufacturing, virtualisation and cloud computing, as well as artificial intelligence, aerospace and nanotechnology, besides robot design and programming.
The 114 sectors prioritised for development include operating systems for computers and mobile phones; database management system and radio frequency identification (RFID) card and RFID reader, as well as voltage transformers of more than 500kV and laser distance meter.
The new order will replace decision No 49/2010/QD-TTg, issued on July 19, 2010. The science and technology ministry will co-operate with other government agencies to submit a proposal to the Prime Minister regarding advanced technologies not listed in the order, but required for the country's socio-economic development. — VNS
