HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Ministry of Finance has issued a circular to regulate the operation of electronic gambling businesses.
The circular, effective from March 15, stipulates that businesses can decide on the number of machines they operate, but cannot go over the number indicated on their business certificates.
Enterprises are permitted to operate gambling machines at a location stated on their business certificates, and details of the rules should be made available in Vietnamese, English and other foreign languages if necessary.
The fee for issuing or extending business certificates is VND150 million (nearly US$7,150), and the fee for re-issuing or adjusting the certificate is VND200 million ($9,520).
Only foreigners and Vietnamese nationals with foreign passports granted by foreign countries will be permitted to play gambling machines.
Statistics showed there are 43 establishments with slot machines currently operating in Vietnam, mainly in Ha Noi and HCM City. — VNS
