HA NOI (Biz Hub)—The World Bank (WB) in Viet Nam said on June 1 that it has approved two credits worth US$250 million for Viet Nam to implement Red River Delta health support and scientific-technological research projects.

Accordingly, the bank, through the International Development Association (IDA), will provide $150 million for the Red River Delta Regional Health System Support Project, which aims to offer better health care services to 15 million people in the region, especially women and children.

The project will also help strengthen the capacity of district- and provincial- level hospitals in order to ease the overload of central-level hospitals.

Meanwhile, the remaining $100 million will be used to support creative activities in the science and technology sector in Viet Nam through designing policies to encourage creativity in the field and enhancing the efficiency of Research and Development (R&D) institutes.— VNA/VNS
