Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) will stop providing the VCB-iB@nking service on old browsers and operating systems (OS) from June 30.
According to the bank, using old OS and browsers may put customers at risk of virus, spyware and malware.
Vietcombank will stop providing the service for all versions of Internet Explorer (IE) running on the Windows XP OS or IE version 7 and older on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 OS.
Customers using these IE browsers are requested to upgrade to the latest version (IE 11) or switch to other browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome or upgrade to newer OS such as Windows 7, 8 or 10 to avoid interruption of services.
Those who wish to continue using the service with IE 8, 9 or 10 on Windows 7 and 8 need to enable the security protocol Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1.1 and 1.2 to help secure data on computers when accessing the website.
Vietcombank has urged customers to use the latest OS and browsers to access and make online banking transactions, besides regularly updating antivirus software, patch and security programmes for each browser and OS. — VNS
