Vietcombank is urging its clients to update biometric information early for certain online transactions starting from July 1, 2024 to avoid transaction disruptions.

Biometric verification of facial recognition will be required to finalise online banking transactions of VNĐ10 million (US$391) or more, starting from July 1.

Currently, customers can register/update biometric information using three simple and quick methods.

First, online update via App-to-App connection between VCB Digibank app and VNeID app. With this method, customers simply need to log into the VCB Digibank app >> Utilities >> Biometric Update >> Select "Electronic Identity Account (VNeID)" and follow the on-screen instructions. To proceed, customers need an electronic identity account VNeID level 2 and the latest version of VCB Digibank app.

Second, online update via NFC connection between chip-embedded Citizen Identity Card (CIC) and phone. Specifically, customers log into the VCB Digibank app >> Utilities >> Biometric Update >> Select "Chip-embedded Citizen Identity Card" and follow the on-screen instructions. During the process, customers simply "touch" the chip-embedded CCCD to the back of their phone to update and authenticate information, ensuring they use the latest version of VCB Digibank app beforehand.

Third, direct update at Vietcombank branches. In cases where customers do not have VNeID level 2, NFC-enabled phones, or chip-embedded CIC, or for any other reason preventing online updates, customers can visit Vietcombank branches to update biometric information.

Customers only need to update biometric information once at the bank. If there are changes in personal information and biometric data, customers need to supplement updates (with no limit on the number of updates).

For foreign customers, customers need to visit any Vietcombank branch with a valid passport and residence permit documents to verify facial portrait. The process is very quick, taking just a few minutes. — VNS
