HA NOI (Biz Hub) ― Standard Chartered Bank on Monday announced the appointment of Nirukt Sapru as its new chief executive officer (CEO) for Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

Nirukt was based in Viet Nam from October 23, succeeding Louis Taylor who will take up a new role with the Bank in London, after three years in Viet Nam.

Sapru brings more than 25 years of commercial banking experience in Europe and Asia, where he had regional responsibility for client coverage and wholesale banking.

"I am looking forward to working closely with our various stakeholders to further build our franchise in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia", said Nirukt.

"There are some interesting opportunities for Standard Chartered Bank in Viet Nam and more generally in the Mekong region, both in consumer banking and wholesale banking."

"The Vietnamese economy continues to be one of the fastest growing in Asia. Like every economy globally, it has its own challenges but the longer term prospects remain very positive," he added. ― VNS
