The National Payment Corporation of Viet Nam (NAPAS) in cooperation with NCB and Nam A Bank on Monday officially launched an online payment method with the VietQR code on the National Public Service Portal.

The code aims to bring people a new, convenient and simple payment method when paying for public services without having to go directly to agencies and administrative units.

Accordingly, people can access the web address, select a payment profile and choose a payment method via NAPAS to scan a VietQR code using mobile banking applications.

Payment by scanning VietQR code is done quickly, easily any time and anywhere, including on holidays. The transaction limit is less than VND200 million per transaction.

On the basis of successful implementation with the first two banks, NAPAS will continue to coordinate to deploy the service to all member banks that have participated in the Napas247 Quick Money Transfer service with the VietQR code.

The successful implementation for online payments is an important step forward, promoting the potential of VietQR code application not only in money transfer transactions between individuals but also in payment services for goods and services.

This is an important foundation for NAPAS to continue to develop and expand payment methods with the VietQR code in the future.

Nguyen Quang Minh, NAPAS’s deputy general director, said: “Implementing level 4 online public service payment connection for people and businesses is one of the key tasks assigned by the State Bank of Vietnam to NAPAS."

"In addition to the traditional payment method via card and bank account, NAPAS now adds a new VietQR code for people to choose the appropriate payment method on the National Public Service Portal.

"This online payment method will not only save time and resources for people and agencies, but also being a contactless payment method, it will contribute to limiting and preventing the spread of disease.”

Currently, NAPAS has completed connecting payment infrastructure to 48 localities, as well as 15 ministries, agencies and public service providers to provide online payment services.

The National Public Service Portal includes payment of social insurance, real estate tax, traffic violation fines, advance court fees, and fees and charges.

The National Public Service Portal was officially opened on December 9, 2019, to provide information about administrative procedures and online public services as well as receiving and handling complaints and recommendations of individuals and organisations nationwide. — VNS
