HCM CITY (Biz Hub) ― Saigon Commercial Bank (SCB) appointed Vo Tan Hoang Van, the former deputy director of Ernst & Young Viet Nam (EY), as acting general director on Tuesday. He replaced Le Khanh Hien, who had resigned due to personal reasons.

Van was in charge of banking and finance at EY, one of the world's leaders in assurance, tax, transactions and advisory services. He joined the SCB management board in July.

SCB said Hien helped the bank enhance financial capacity, strengthen organisation, invest in technology and develop human resources in accordance with its development strategies.

Early this month, the bank sold about VND1.8 trillion (US$85.71 million) of non-performing loans to the Viet Nam Asset Management Company (VAMC), bringing its bad debt ratio below 3 per cent. It has also increased equity from VND10.58 trillion ($503.8 million) to nearly VND12.3 trillion ($585.7 million). ― VNS
