Each unit features two or three new-generation ATMs – and in exceptional cases, five — that can take photos of serial numbers on currency notes, a free telephone to call the bank's customer service centre and a box to collect customers' demands.

The next working day bank staff would contact the customer to fulfil the demands, according to general director Tran Phuong Binh.

There is a security guard in every unit and also, initially, a bank worker to guide customers on how to use the system.

The bank has set up 42 units across the country where customers can deposit money in their accounts and get confirmation immediately, withdraw and transfer cash, make deposits, pay bills and others.

Binh said it would provide customers with easier, more comfortable access to banking services while helping the bank reduce paperwork.

By year end 150 such units will be opened.

DongA Bank is a leading issuer of cards in Viet Nam, so far issuing more than eight million ATM and debit and credit cards. — VNS
