HA NOI (Biz Hub) — ANZ on December 16 announced Dennis Hussey as its next chief executive officer (CEO) for Viet Nam.

Hussey will be responsible for expanding the bank's local services and capabilities for clients active in the country's major trade corridors.

Dennis will join ANZ from Citibank, where he was most recently the country officer for Viet Nam. He has held wholesale and consumer banking roles over the past 19 years, and was the bank's head of corporate banking in Viet Nam between 2000 and 2002.

He also led Citi's consumer banking businesses in Spain and Japan, and has led wholesale businesses for Citi in Sri Lanka as well as a Thai securities company.

Former CEO Viet Nam Tareq Muhmood moved to Singapore in November to become ANZ's global head of diversified industries. Phan Thi Thanh Binh, the head of global markets in Viet Nam, will continue as the acting CEO Viet Nam till Dennis joins, expected in March next year.

"Viet Nam is becoming a key Asian manufacturing hub and our customers are seeing strong potential for growth in both the export and domestic markets," said ANZ CEO of International Banking Farhan Faruqui.

"Dennis has the right mix of retail and corporate banking experience to lead this business, and connect our customers with opportunities at a time when Viet Nam's economy and financial sector are fast-developing," added Farhan.

ANZ Viet Nam is a wholly foreign-owned bank, which was established in Viet Nam in 2008. It offers services across institutional and corporate banking, financial markets and trade finance, along with commercial banking and retail and wealth banking. — VNS
